We’re Baa’ack! Card Class

Hello friends,

I have finally got off my keister (sp?) and scheduled a class. Being in a new area, I wasn’t sure who would be interested. I didn’t have classes here before so I didn’t know, off hand, who would come. So …. I didn’t invite any of my old pals. Which I know now, what very naughty on my part and they will certainly be invited next time. I posted on NextDoor.com, a neighborhood site, asking if people would be interested. I have interest from about 8 people and 3 were able to come. One lady was sick, but I think the bigger reason for low turnout is that it was the week of graduation for the local schools. People are busy. Personally, I like small classes so I can visit with everyone – so it’s all good.

These are the cards we made. (yes, one is a repeat!)

The first one is in honor of the men in our lives. Fathers Day is coming, right? You can also use this for a birthday card, which is what I did. I saw many cards on Pinterest with this stamp set, but this one spoke to me. It is heavily inspired (okay, cased!) by Patsy Waggoners card. I believe her site is www.stampstodiefor.com

Bloomin’ Hearts Wedding

Hello friends!

I don’t get invited to many weddings anymore. Most people I know are married. I expect that given my age ..(29 of course!) I will start being invited to my friends children’s weddings. However this time, it was a for dear friends of ours who have been together a while and decided to make it official. I wanted to do white on white – but since her favorite color is purple, I added that too. This card is just so pretty, if I do say so myself! The pictures don’t really capture it. If you get this die, you won’t regret it.

Hello Friends,

I am contemplating making a change and want to know your thoughts.

I am considering shutting my blog down and instead posting on my Facebook page only. There are pluses to a blog but I don’t think many people follow the blog as opposed to the number that like my Facebook page.

Other than spammers, my sweet friend,Wendy C, is the only one who typically comments here. It’s possible (probable – lets face it) that I don’t use the SEO and search functions here enough to gather an audience. However on FB – a lot of people like the page and more comment.

Please let me know – do you follow the page here? Do you see it in Facebook and does it lead you here?

I am not going away – just evaluating the options!

Thank you so much!

Pop of Paradise

Hi friends!

I am thrilled to share with you my latest card that features a new stamp set from Stampin’ Up! One of the things I love about being a demonstrator is that you get to see some of the new products before anyone else – and order them too!

This was a set I just loved. It’s so fun and perfect for summer. What do you think?

Marquee Messages

Behold! My first card made with new stamps from Stampin’ Up! (the sky is clearing, birds are chirping and a rainbow appears!)

Well – not really. This new stamp set is called Marquee Messages and everyone who attended OnStage received this. It only comes in photopolymer. (which is fine by me!)

Both Sara and Shelli made their version(style) of a card made with this set. Shelli is more vintage and texture and stuff. Sara is more modern, streamlined and architectural. I feel like I am in between – depending on my mood.

Swaps from OnStage 2016

Hello all –

As I mentioned, OnStage 2016 was pretty amazing. I have shared some photos of the over all event, but today I would like to share some of the swaps I received.

Swaps? What are swaps? At every event, demonstrators come ready to swap handmade cards or 3D items with each other. The goal is to share your ideas for a card using current merchandise so others can get ideas for their own business. Of course it’s just plain fun and you get to meet so many great people. Anyway, some people just do their own thing and make whatever they like. Others participate in organized swaps where there are certain parameters. For example there may be a swap where the parameters are: full card, no less than 4 layers, with 2 embellishments and have a masculine theme. Both ways are great and there is no right or wrong. I personally have never been in an organized swap because …well, I don’t like to commit to a certain number of cards. I get done what I can get done. Some ladies make hundreds. I usually cap out at 75. (this year I only did 40!)

Here are some of the favorites I received.

Swaps 1 of 5

Swaps 2 of 5

Swaps 3 of 5

Swaps 4 of 5

Swaps 5 of 5

My swap is the very last one. (with the lobster)

Some are my favorites because they are just so pretty! Others are because they are a style opposite from mine, while others are simple and cute – perfect for a class. If a gal has multiple swaps to choose from, I tend to get one made with product I don’t own.

My personal PSA: Swapping etiquette is that you accept anyones card that they offer. NEVER do you look at it and then say no. Everyone has different styles, taste and experience levels. Being kind is free!

OnStage 2016 – new product samples

Oh boy!

I generally think of myself as a positive person, but I admit some of the items in past publications took a while to get me on board. I would resist, but eventually fall in love and wonder what took me so long?

That is NOT the case in the new 2016-2017 Annual Catalog. There is so much to love. I am especially happy with the new Thinlits. What do you think?

OnStage 2016 – Stampin’ Up! Convention

Greetings all!

I just returned from OnStage 2016 in Salt Lake City. I had a great time and was able to see quite a few, but not all 🙁 , friends.  OnStage is Stampin’ Up!’s new answer for their convention. Now that Stampin’ Up! is global, it’s important to have events everywhere we have a presence. Every 6 months, there will be an OnStage Live event in one of the countries. Last November it was in Brussels, last week it was in SLC, Utah and this November it will be in Brisbane Australia. These events are kind of a mini-convention. There are display boards, training, entertainment, product demonstrations and of course, friendships. There are also OnStage Local events which telecast some of the Live event, to a cit near you. I am excited that Phoenix will host one of these, this November.

I’d like to share some OnStage pictures with you! First, here is a photo on the cover of the new catalog. I love it!

2016-2016 AC Stampin' Up!

There are a few hints as to what the new InColors are on the front of the catalog, but they are not all represented.

On Stage

Next, I bet you would like to see the InColors, right? These are 5 on trend colors that we bring in every year, and they stay for 2 years and rotate out. On occasion, there is a color renovation and some previous InColors, become core colors.

Introducing: Emerald Envy, Dapper Denim, Sweet Sugarplum, Peekaboo Peach and Flirty Flamingo!

This is a great feature about Stampin’ Up! All the paper, ribbon, ink, accessories and designer paper coordinate. You don’t have to rummage through a local craft store hoping to find the perfect match. We have done the work for you.

I will share more in the next day or two. Until then, this next picture is of me and 2 of my 4 ladies on my team. I am on the left, then Kathy and then Allison. We are missing Arline and Lisa.

Getting Caught up

We all get busy, right? You have work, kids, pets, chores, doctors appointments and extra curriculars. It’s easy to get overwhelmed and when I do, I feel guilty for doing something just for me – like making cards. Thus – I get behind periodically. Oh, I could go to the store and buy one, but really? When I have all the stuff here? Well, heck! Then I would feel guilty that the one person who got a store bought card would feel less loved because they didn’t get a handmade one! I swear if you do – it’s because of time, not love! Not only that – I do have cards, but I wonder if they are good enough to send or are they perfect for that person. (can you tell I have guilt issues? I swear I should be catholic!) In reality, people just want to know that you are thinking of them. The details, and the card, don’t matter as much.

So …. I am close to being caught up. And it feels great! I spent some time creating new cards. I also sent ones that I have been hoarding for one reason or another. So silly!

Take time for you to create. Send your cards that you feel are imperfect – no one else will think so. Make someone feel special today!

Happy New Home

As you know, I have my real estate license now and am trying to get that going.  Anyway – I am lucky enough to be close to selling my first home. Fingers crossed.

Segue to my card and pet peeve of the day. I wish there were more ‘home’ related stamps out there. Many realtors give a thank you card of some sort to their clients, including me. There is slim pickings out there folks when it comes to congratulating people on their new home. I’ve seen a few, but not many. This leads me to my card… This is a very in demand set that has retired. I have searched high and low for someone to sell me their used one, to no avail. I have one, but I have a friend who is looking too.

Anyway … inside it says “Happy New Home”. How perfect is that? Who wouldn’t want a little hand made gesture after making one of the largest, most important purchases of your life?

Happy New Home

Stamps – Holiday Home (ret)

Ink – Soft Suede Classic Ink

Paper – Crumb Cake, Whisper White and Cherry Cobbler card stock

Tools – Polka Dot Parade Embossing Folder, Homemade Holiday Framelit Dies, Heart Punch, Stitched Rectangle Frame dies (NOT SU)
