Fabulous Four Birthday

Hello friends,

I’m here to remind you – that I am still here. Although way less than I like! 馃檪 I have lots to share.

This week is the last week for Sale-A-Bration. Purchase $50 in product and get a聽Sale-A-Bration item for FREE. They have run out of inventory on a few items so choose an alternate, just in case. You could also ask me – and I can let you know. 聽This is a once a year sale!

As much as I love聽Sale-A-Bration (SAB), it also signals to me that the retirement list is coming soon, which means a new catalog follows after that! Yee-haw! I will let you know when the retirement list is out. Once it is, if you have a favorite item that is on the chopping block, act 聽quickly.

I made this birthday card for a special friend. It’s a ‘herringbone’ technique that I used not long ago, but I love it. It’s not difficult, but a little pain-staking – but worth it. Enjoy!

It's Your Day

Stamps – Fabulous Four

Ink – Raspberry Ripple (ret)

Paper – So Saffron, Whisper White and Gumboil Green (ret) card stock. Print Poetry DSP (ret)

Using that DSP!

Hello friends!

I hope that if you were on the East coast and was hit by that storm, you were safe inside keeping toasty. Maybe doing something worthwhile like stamping or binge watching your latest guilty pleasure on Netflix? Since I am in my pj’s still at 3:00 pm, I am not judging! 馃檪

I had a great time making this card. I have used this technique before, but it’s been a while. When I was doing classes I was concerned that it would take too long so I avoided it. The first one does, but after that, it goes pretty quickly. The person who prompted me to do this again was Mary Fish at www.stampinpretty.com. Again, I’ve done this before as well, but she inspired me to tackle it again and I love, love, how this turned out.

This technique is much easier than it looks, just a little time consuming. Cut 1/2″ strips of DSP (designer series paper) or any pretty paper you have. Adhere to a base layer in kind of an ‘L’ shape 聽to start, then alternate sides and direction of the strips. It’s easier to have a little space between. If you try to but them up, you will tiny areas where they aren’t exactly 1/2″ and that drive you (me) crazy. If you need more of a visual, Mary has a video on her site. I don’t crop the whole thing, I just cut the extras off at the end, following the shape of the base. Here are a few pics in progress before the final result:

The beauty of this card isn’t so much the bling and cool stamps used, but rather the love that went into the careful 聽creation that simple paper can bring. I hope you love it!

2016 and I’m alive!

Hello friends!

I know – it’s been weeks since I posted on my blog. I have missed it! If I am not blogging about my cards, that means I am not making them – and that’s just sad!

There is a lot to catch you up on. Stampin’ Up! has released their Occasions Catalog, which many people refer to as the Spring Catalog. This is live as of January 5th and runs through May 31st. In addition … Sale-A-Oration is back!! If you aren’t familiar with this, it’s a mini brochure that features exclusive products. For every $50 you spend, you get to choose an item from the Sale-A-Bration brochure for free. There is no limit! This runs now through March 31st.

**If you want these catalogs, please let me know and I will send them to you at no charge.**

On to the card I have for you today! I had a vision for this card and it didn’t quite come to fruition. All the same, I still like it and hope you do too. This was for my great-niece who turned 11 on Sunday.

Woodland Flurry Christmas

Hello friends,

This may be my last holiday post for the year. (no guarantees though!)

I hope you love this card as much as I do. There are several variants of this card all over Pinterest and for good reason – people love it. Stampin’ Up! sold out of the Woodland embossing folder in December and it had been on backorder for weeks. The good news is that because it was so popular, they are bringing it back! Not in time for Christmas but it can be used for so much more!

Embellished Ornaments Christmas

Hello again!

I hope you are staying warm. It’s been chilly here in Arizona, for Arizona anyway, but I imagine many of you are seeing snow. Bundle up and drive safely.

This was a Pinterest inspired card. As simple as this card may look, it had a lot going on. It turned out really well and looks very elegant to me. I hope you enjoy it.

Gentle Peace, another Christmas card

Hello friends!

I hope that you are doing well and enjoying the holiday season. I finally have my house decorated and I love it! It’s a shame it can’t always look like this. I am hoping to get a little baking done this week. It’s just my husband and I this year – so not too much!

Below is a card that is elegant in it’s simplicity. There are many other ways to use this set. It makes a beautiful stained glass card as well but when you make multiples, that is too long for me. I they to send about 80 cards a year – all handmade.

Christmas Cards!

I’m back….

Sorry I have been away from my blog so long. I’m not sure if I mentioned it, but I was going to Real Estate school. There is a ton of things to learn that seem to have nothing to do with selling a home! I haven’t been in a classroom environment in .. forever. I really had to focus and felt guilty when doing anything that wasn’t studying. I have passed all my exams (whew!) and now have 1 class and need to submit my paperwork to the state. Then I will be official.

Anyway …. I have been playing catch up and have several cards to share with you. I will probably do 2 today and the rest later in the week.

This first one has hardly any stamping, but it’s pretty just the same.

Sleighride Edgelits Winter card

Hello!

I hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving! We went to visit some friends in Northern(ish) Arizona and then served up a most delicious meal. It was not the traditional turkey dinner. ( I am making that tomorrow! ) They had a smoked brisket, grilled and fried porkbelly, deep fried mushrooms and peppers, green bean casserole and some baked beans that were dynamite. And the pies…… oh that girl can cook! Anyway, we ate at about 430pm and it wasn’t till about 530am today that I felt normal. I got a hunger pang about 10am!

Anyway – I love these edgelits. I wasn’t in love with the stamp set that coordinates with it though, so I used another one. I love that we don’t always have to do what is expected. Now you may have seen many many versions of this, but I hope you like mine as well.

Wonderland Christmas

Hello!

I know that we haven’t had Thanksgiving yet, but when you make your own cards, you have to start early. This little gem was inspired by others seen on Pinterest and I don’t know that I would have come up with the color combo myself. I think it’s beautiful and hope you do as well!

Silent Night Wonderland

Silent Night 2 Wonderland

I used the daubers in the ink pads and then tapped them on the stamp. I huffed on it (to make it moist again) then stamped on the paper.

I took a second picture from the side hoping that you could see the glitter on the trees. It never comes through on photos as well as I would hope for – but trust me, it’s pretty. I also added different things to this card, Instead of the rhinestones, I added the sequins. Then I added the sequins with rhinestones on top. Ultimately, I liked this one best.

Stamps – Wonderland

Ink – Night of Navy, Marina Mist and Island Indigo

Paper – Island Indigo, Lost Lagoon and Whisper White. Silver Glimmer Paper

Tools – Softly Falling Embossing Folder, Sponge Daubers, Tabletop Paper Cutter (ret)**

Extras – Dazzling Diamonds Glitter, Basic Jewels Rhinestones, Silver cording Trim

** One thing to note. When cutting Glimmer Paper, using scissors or a guillotine style trimmer is best. The glitter on the paper acts as sandpaper and will dull your normal cutting blades tremendously. It can also damage/dull your punches and dies. This is not to say you can’t use them – I do, just be aware that it could happen.
